Vegetable-Print Tote Bag

Cover the table with newspaper and slide a few sheets inside the tote bag so paint can't soak through to the other side.

Ask an adult to slice the vegetables in half to reveal their patterns, making sure each has a flat surface to print with.

Spread a thin layer of each fabric paint colour onto separate paper plates.

Press a vegetable firmly onto a paint plate so its cut face is evenly coated.

Stamp it straight down onto the fabric, hold for a second, then lift it cleanly to keep the print crisp.

Reload with paint between prints and repeat to build up a pattern, using different veg and colours.

Leave the fabric flat to dry completely, which can take a few hours.

Ask an adult to press the dry fabric under a warm iron with a cloth on top to fix the paint so it survives washing.
