Frozen Monster Hand Rescue

Ages 4–9⏱ 40 minMess: HIGHGrown-up help: LowKitchen ScienceSensory & Early Years
Professor O and Captain A proudly present the finished craft, holding a plastic tray together.

Professor O will help you learn: Children rescue toy spiders trapped in a frozen monster hand, finding out that salt and warm water melt ice faster than cold water. It is a sensory way to explore melting, temperature and testing ideas.

⚠️ Use a non-latex (nitrile) glove or a food bag if anyone has a latex allergy. Keep small toys away from children under three. Warm water should be tap-warm, never hot. Salt stings in cuts and eyes, so wash hands afterwards.

Play through the project step by step, with narration read aloud.

Make it your own: Freeze two hands and try a different tool on each, such as a pipette versus a spoon, then time which rescue is faster.
