Simple Sundial

Make a small hole in the centre of the plate and push the stick straight up through it.

Check the stick stands up straight and does not lean over.

Take the plate outside in the morning to a spot that stays sunny all day.

Press the plate down or weigh its edges so it cannot blow away, and try not to move it.

On the hour, look at where the stick's shadow falls and draw a line there with your marker.

Write the time next to that line.

Come back every hour through the day and mark each new shadow line with its time.

On the next sunny day, read the time by seeing which line the shadow points to, and if the shadow is faint, wait for a clearer sunny moment.
