Symmetry Butterfly Puzzle

Fold your sheet of paper in half and press along the fold to make a sharp crease, then open it out again.

Draw half a butterfly body along the fold line so the crease runs down its middle.

On one side of the fold only, add small blobs of paint where you want the wing patterns.

Fold the paper back over and gently smooth your hand across the top to squash the paint.

Open the paper carefully to reveal a matching pattern printed on the other wing.

Let the paint dry, then look closely to check both wings mirror each other along the fold.

If a spot did not print, use a pen to copy it across so both sides match exactly.

Cut out your butterfly and test the symmetry by folding it in half to see the wings line up.
